You can also get to know the Monument to the Discoveries, a modern monument built in the middle of the XX century, dedicated to the exhortation of this golden period in the History of Portugal. You will visit the magnificent St. George Castle, built by the Muslims in the middle of the XI century, which offers a wonderful view of the capital and the Tagus River. You can stroll through the medieval streets of the oldest and most charming neighbourhoods in the city, Alfama, and visit the magnificent Lisbon’s Cathedral, whose construction began in the second half of the XII century, after the takeover of the city from the Moors, by the founder of Portugal, D. Afonso Henriques.
